だから本人はエース二人からは憎まれているかもしれないが、堂々とやればいいのである。西巻を下げて村林を使うのも、「来期、茂木コンバートで空くショートに誰をいれるか？」を決めるためのテストのようなものだろうから。西巻は打は良いけど守備に課題。三好の内容は十分にわかっている。村林が何ができるか？というテストでしょう。バッター田中で強引に走らせたのも、盗塁できる選手かどうかを確かめるためでしょうし。そして、総合的に考えて誰かをメインにするかＦＡやドラフトに全てを賭けるかトレードでショートを獲得するのかを決めるのではないでしょうか。

来期から正式に平石が監督になるようなニュースを見てがっくり。考えてみればそりゃそうだ、と。球団の誰かが球団に都合の良い傀儡監督を作ろうとして平石を若いころから飼いならしてきたのはこの日のためだっただろうと。だって星野さんや、梨田さんが居る限りは良くても二軍監督や一軍コーチどまり。仮に梨田さんが勝っていたら平石は永久にヘッドコーチだったろうし、星野さんが生きていて、彼の人脈から新監督をどんどん送り込まれたら、まさかその人たちを押し退けて監督になるわけにはいかなかっただろう。
つまり星野さんが死んで梨田さんが辞めた今、だれの反対もなく大手を振って監督就任できるという絶好のチャンスなのだ。これで「オーナーＦＡＸ指示」なんて噂も流れることもない１００パーセントイエスマンの出来上がりだから球団はうれしいでしょうなあ
「ディクソンとコラレスは来期も契約する、全試合一軍に帯同させること！」「はい！」
「岡島と渡辺は成績にかかわらず全試合に代打、代走でも出場させること！」「はい」

ということになるような気もする。

いずれにしても、もう試合に出しておく意味がないような今江を良い場面で代打で送ったり、存在の意味がない渡辺を絶対に抹消しないあたり、来期も「能力のないベテラン」を中心にしたチームを作って６月ころには「申し訳ない」とか真顔で言っているような気がする。個人的に欲しいのは、殿様のようになっているベテラン、中堅が良くなければバッサリ切ることのできる強い意志を持った監督である。無論、若手だってダメなら落とす。単純によさそうな選手を年齢関係なく起用する人である。

とは言え、岡島はチャンスで三振した時にはかなり深刻な顔をしていた。堀内も来て捕手３人体制だし、もしかすると今日が最後のお試しで二軍に行くのではないか。ま、いっても来期からはまた全試合一軍なんだろうけれど。

明日は藤平が火だるまにならないことを祈るだけである。
