辛島はローテを守れるか？

辛島と言えば何となく毎年パッとしないというイメージだ。いつだったか珍しく「１０勝できなかったら辞める」とか言ったけど、できなかったからもう言わないとかなんとか。言動からは「覇気」は感じられないけど密かに燃えるタイプなんだろうと思う。
しかし先発になってからは、ほぼ毎年故障をして年間通してローテーションを守った事はないように思える。大久保楽天の時も夏過ぎから出てきて救世主のような活躍をしたと思ったら、すぐに負けたり。素晴らしい投球をした次の試合で滅多打ちされるなど絶好調が続かない傾向にある。
調子は関係なく球威で抑えるタイプじゃないから生命線の変化球の制球が良くないと長打をもらって炎上するのかもしれない、
元々体があまり大きくないし、肉体改造してがっちりした体格になったわけでもないから怪我をしないためのスタミナに欠ける面もあるのかもしれない。
だから首脳陣は雨などでローテがすれると辛島を一回飛ばすような処置をしていたのかもしれない。実際に毎週投げて６割負けるよりも月に２回投げて１０勝近くを目指す方が現実的にも思える。８勝３敗くらいだったら十分に優勝に貢献したと言えるんじゃないだろうか？
そうなると毎週のローテンションには入って来ないけれど、ソフトバンクとのCS戦登板と言い、２０１３日本シリーズの登板と言い、大舞台にまったく動じないメンタルがあるのは他の投手と番うところだと思う。なので意外と「天王山」と言われるカードには則元や岸などのエースを持ってきがちだが、辛島ならひょうひょうとクールな顔で投げ切るようにも思えてくる。

ただし完投は期待できないし、無理しても７回。普通は６回だから中継ぎから抑えまで３人使うというデメリットはあるんだけれど。
辛島の場合は年を取るにつれて球が急激に遅くなるという事はないだろう。今だってＭＡＸ134ｋくらいなんだから下がりようがないもんね。だから意外と３７歳過ぎても同じようなピッチングで楽天の第７先発の位置にいるかもしれないのだ。
つまり来期は辛島と森、もしくは辛島と古川とか二人でローテの一角を回すような感じで行けばよいんじゃないでしょうかね？
