背番号４０番　ウィーラー

外国人の中では最も高い数字を残した助っ人。常に全力プレイ、全力疾走、全力応援、と態度も含めて理想の外人助っ人であると思う。自分が不振の真っただ中でもチームメイトが打てば、ベンチ前に出て大喜びするシーンは何度も見た。それこそキャプテンをやってもらっても良いくらいである。

しかし１年目も極度の不振で、まともになったのは８月意向だった。きっとこの時は日本のプロ野球に対応が遅れたから…という判断で今年も在籍ということになったんだろう。
しかし、今年は前半がイマイチ、中盤に一気に調子を上げるもポストシーズン前にはまた絶不調になった。それでもあの打率と本塁打だから年間通してみれば優良助っ人間違いないのだけれど、夏場の不調はチームの転落の大きな原因であったのは確か。
よく言われるように気温が高くないとダメなんすかね。となると寒い春と涼しい秋はダメってことになるんだよなあ。一年目は外スラに苦しんだ感があり、今年はインコース攻めに苦しんだ。来期はどっちも克服できているといいんですけど。
ただ、アマダーやペゲーロが本塁打打たないと、自分が大きいの打とうとして力むような傾向が見られるから、できれば３人併用がいいのかもしれないっすね。
守備は肝心なところでのエラーが多いとされていて、確かに確実性に欠けるとは思う。しかし浅いゴロを素手で取ってスナップスローで一塁を楽々アウト！という日本人じゃできないプレーも見ているのでサード失格とまでは思いませんな。逆にレフトだと致命的なエラーと言うか、そもそも追いつけないプレーを見せそうで。でも状態が悪くなければレフトは岩見かもしれませんしね。
来期はホームランは３０本くらいと同じ程度で良いので３割ちかく打って貰いたいと思います。なんにせよ来期もチームの最重要中心打者であることは間違いないと思っているのです。
