新人王が茂木じゃなかった件

ちと話題としては遅いのですが。

アタシは高梨が１０勝して、茂木が二割八分を切った時点で新人王は高梨だろうなあ、と思ってました。なんかスポーツ記者って所詮は野球選手じゃないから投手なら１０勝、野手なら３割がライン、とか、けっこう大雑把に考えているような気がするんですよねえ。確かに以前は２０勝が一流投手のラインとされていましたが、今では二ケタ勝利すれば一流の仲間入りと言えるのでしょう。でも野手は未だに３割がラインかな。各チームのリーディングヒッターが二割八分だったら叩かれますもんね。
ただ記者にはチーム事情やプロでの経験を考慮する事を考えもしない人も多いような気がします。無論、新人王の資格規定に問題がある事が一番駄目なんですけど。そもそも一軍での出場がなかったというのは一年目の新人としてプロでないようなもの。つまり新人時代に賞を貰えるわけがないのであります。
ただ、高卒と大卒では野球歴も違うので、高卒はプロ入りして数年で初めてスタート、という見方をしてあげるという救済策から出た規定なんでしょうな。

しかし楽天ファンからすれば、何といってもチーム最高打率（これは他のレギュラーが情けないとも言えますが）、盗塁、走塁、犠打も含めて最も輝いた選手である事に間違いはありません。しかも経験のないショートをエラーはあったものの無難にこなした上でです。
と言っても日ハムファンからすれば「こまごまと言い訳、条件を付ければね」と見えるのかもしれません。

しかし逆に楽天ファンからすれば「１０勝たって打線が強力ならあたりまえじゃん」とも思えます。

実際に茂木に投票した記者も少なからずいたようですし。なので個人的には「くやし～！」と言う程には感情的には思っていません。多分、茂木選手本人や首脳陣も同じなのではないでしょうか。確か二割八分台だった時から休ませても規定打席に到達してたと思いますが、打率が下がる可能性を承知で出場させてました。きっと３割を目指していたのではないでしょうか。

いずれにしても楽天でルーキーイヤーから主力選手として活躍した野手は滅多にいません。（いたかな？）ＦＡしなければ今後１０年は内野の一角は安泰と言えるのでは？
首脳陣は中川、内田、西田、などは、ちょっと打てないだけであっさり二軍送りしてましたが、茂木は連続三振でもスタメンから外さずに我慢もしてました。それだけ見込まれていたという事でしょう。他の若手にも、この「我慢」を適用してもらいたいですね！
